Especially would like a white Talon Tsi

I really want a DSM as well but common sense tells me this is a bad want.

Why its totally practical. Lots of storage in the hatch and AWD for the snow!

You’re not wrong. And the Talon Tsi was the best looking of the 3, too.

My neighbor has one on corn, he’s selling for 5Gs. If I had the cash..

Laser is best 1g DSM.

Well if they’re as unreliable as legend says, It’s a bad decision.

My uncle got divorced in 1990, the first thing he did was buy a Talon;
As a 10 year old at the time he was my hero.

White Talon TSI you say?
I had this one a number of years ago. Great car, dead mint, very fast. Not super unreliable either, the ecu needed repair once but that was it really. Wouldn’t mind having it back.

I always thought those were cool looking. 4g63 AWD Turbo! I would love to build a nice 400hp sleeper out of one. There is one for $2k near me and would love to pick it up. The AWD would be nice in the snow as well!

Mine put almost 300 to the wheels, AWD, flip up headlights...couldn’t beat that. Back then I think I paid $3500 for it, probably worth twice that now being a totally rust free one in great shape.

My father bought the Plymouth version new, it ran 200,000

It’s one of those cars I am just so surprised we ever got in the USA. Lets make a list.
AWD
TURBO
HATCHBACK
FLIP UP HEADLIGHTS
MANUAL TRANSMISSION
Having one or two of those things makes a car cool but all of them!

Hell yeah!

if you abuse them they are. good mods and good tune and they will run forver and make good power
![]() 03/14/2017 at 16:08 |

What makes them unreliable? Is it some design issue or just people run too much pressure on stock parts?

I wish i still had mine. 2g AWD with a 1g motor making 300WHP and 330TQ
One day i will have another DSM

The only thing that sucks about those cars is that it was Mitsubishi who built them...if they were Toyotas they would run forever, although they probably wouldn’t be quite as interesting. Mitsubishi had a unique talent for reaching beyond their ability and building super cool, sophisticated stuff that they themselves have no business actually putting together. And I’ll always love them for that, haha.

My mom had a 1G facelift version (non-pop up lights) Talin TSI awd, turbo.
She managed to get it stuck in the snow once somehow. It was going to be my car but it failed emissions and was going to be expensive to fix so they got rid of it for a Jeep Grand Cherokee (barf).

I would be happy having one with just a big 16g.

Their previous owners are unreliable

People run too much pressure on stock parts and crank walk ends up destroying the engine.
![]() 03/22/2017 at 15:55 |
|
And then they complain the cars are unreliable?

“but it handled 25 psi on stock internals!”
Yeah for the most part. Crank walk is a know issue on older DSMs and it is hard to find an example that hasn’t been boosted above stock. I believe even at stock boost that particular run of 4g63t began to exhibit it over time, the first and second gen eclipse.
